Nature.

Marvelous, breath-taking, fantastic, beautiful, simple, stupendous, amazing, awesome etc.
These are a few words that should come naturally to anyone's mind when they think of nature (pardon me if I missed out on better adjectives)

Everyday you hear about how climate patterns are changing, how ozone layer is depleting due to over pollution (CFC's mainly), how the average temperature of earth is increasing, how forests are receding, how several species of animals are becoming endangered and many many more problems related to nature. What could possibly be the root cause to all these problems?

Simple. Human beings.

Man is selfish (c'mon, accept it!). The species as a whole was/is still being selfish despite knowing the fact that there is going to be no earth to live on 20 years from now. 20 years (read that loud and clear)! Isn't 20 years a little too soon? Yes, it is. The temperature of the earth is likely to rise by a maximum of 6.4 degrees (Celsius). Whoa! That’s lots. Imagine the temperature being 50-55 during summer.

Global warming, temperature changes... What next? Animals. Protection of endangered species. Current rate of extinction of such species is 10 to 100 times greater than any of the prior mass extinction events in the history of the Earth. If this rate of extinction continues or accelerates, the number of species becoming extinct in the next decade could number in the millions. Extinction will lead to the loss of the species (as an entity in the biological system), destabilization of the ecosystem, it might affect other species, genetic material and biochemicals that are associated with the species will be lost forever. Does all this make the problem that we have in our hands look grave? It sure does.

Oh and the danger because of plastic. I read somewhere that plastic wastes can be more of a threat than global warming. Plastic covers and bottles are to be seen everywhere. The real problem with plastic pollution in the world's waters -- the fact that it never, ever, degrades. It’ll eventually become a part of the food chain. Many cows die because they eat the plastic that’s there in the garbage bins which results in choking. Now, imagine the same story being said in case of humans. Too scary.

The whole nature-turning-against-humans is not far away in the future. We’ll pay for all that we’ve done to them. The least you and I can do is not litter, minimize the use of plastic to whatever extent possible, avoid cutting trees, plant trees wherever possible, raise our voices against hunting, poaching, the inhuman practices against animals, contribute in any little way possible. I’m not saying technology is bad; we should stop using vehicles because it pollutes the environment, we should just realize the limits and not cross them.

I don’t want to wake up everyday to get my oxygen tank filled. Imagine not having animals around you because they all perished in the race for survival. Imagine a life which is no life at all.

PS- A serious blog I know. This issue has been bothering me from the time I was say around 14. The topic only because i love both those animals and they're a part of nature too. And, I seriously was considering joining the blue cross or the WWF or work for the Discovery channel. This one’s to all those dreams. Cheers! :)

i sit down to watch the news everyday n i must say except for the 1st 1o minutes, rest of the news is crap!.. i DONT care abt wht a particular bollywood/hollywood star wears for some arbit film festival in some god-forsaken-place!! is tht wht the whole world wants to hear abt? some controversy or the other all the bloody time.. does the media over-hype(is this a word?) any incident that they can devour? do they jus report the incident as it is? do v get to kno the truth at all? but ya ill contradict my own point here, i'd rather kno things goin on in the world(?) this way than not knowin it at all..

oh how cud i forget the political influence on some of these channels?! take tamil nadu for instance (this is one of the places where politics takes a nasty turn!)-- wont take names here- party A has channel A which glorifies whtever tht party does, mind u, WHATEVER!! similarly the opposition applies a similar strategy.. immature i kno but cant be helped, whos gonna listen?! .. now, whats the truth, wht shud one believe? its ones call to decide which is right n which is not..

osama bin laden, harry potter, madam president(currently), bombay blasts, jihads, some crime committed abt 10 years back for which they're huntin for clues n possible suspects, bollywood/hollywood(how cud i forget?) etc etc is wht a news channel thrives on when nothins happenin in the world.. they dig up stuff tht happened years ago n telecast them as if theres somethin new.. it'll come with the tag abcde exclusive like its brand new discovery!!
its ultimately the viewers choice to decide n believe whts true n whts not.. wht really happened n whts jus the media hype.. whether or not the media is misusin the freedom giv or not..
all this wasnt sposed to go in2 my blog but ive been ponderin abt all these news channels (cuz i watch the news for abt 2.5 hrs everyday:)) n wht they report, the incidents, the crimes, all the politics...

whoevers readin this jus giv it all a thought n lemme kno abt wht u feel strongly for/against, wht u believe is true/not true n the rest..

Standard qsn again- what?
So i decided, it shld b abt somethin tht keeps me goin, ALL the time, through good n bad times, day in n day out- MUSIC
Be it classical or the other extreme opposite sorts or even the bird-calls or the sound of the gushin river, every person in this whole-wide-world enjoys some form of music at some point of time in their lives.. i'll hav to consider a person to b some kind of a lunatic(superlative of this word abt a thousand times!) if he/she doesnt listen to music!!! there r soo many kindsa music which makes it impossible for any1 to kno abt it all... n hey my fav one liner wud make sense here- to each her/his own'!
for me it all started out with learnin carnatic music (tradition!, sigh) which i learned to appreciate in due course of time.. n then the good ol' eng stuff (thx to dad).. ah then the hindi songs era..lol.. eng pop for a short span n then rock era dawned :) .. the louder the better.. this caption is so apt these days

i kinda fell in love with tht caption much to the annoyance of my mom cuz ive broken a thing or 2 at home cuz of d loud music :)
even at college its somethin tht relieves me at the end of every bad day.. cut out the bad.. at the end of everyday.. does gr8 wonders, i must say!.. all of us assembling in a room to hav a good chat, plan plans tht v kno r gonna fail, listenin to songs tht v've never heard to n singin those which v love.. lightens every1's mood instantly!.. amazin!!..
cant think of anythin else that'll hold me in a single piece throughout my life.. cant think of anythin tht i enjoy as much as this.. cant imagine livin without it..

All over...

yea, u guessed it rite! another harry potter post!... i, like many other ppl was totally excited abt the release of deathly hallows for, its the last book of this world-altering-series :P
i finished readin d book a while back n sigh.. i wasnt really happy with the the way it ended.. ya harry dint die n its a they-all-lived-happily-ever-after ending but not for me .. she killed 3 of my fav characters! i was soo shocked! well, voldy died, in a very weird way, not the way i imagined it'd all end.. the characters tht stand out in this book are hermione n hmm.. kreacher.. i dont wanna spoil the fun for those hu havent yet finished readin the book by breakin d suspense.. i'd giv it 6 on 10.. the 4th book still remains my fav.. n yea, i wudnt want jkr to continue writin.. the charm of the series will b lost tht way.. so happy readin 4 d ones hu havent read it yet...

ps- this ones comin the day after i finished the book.. now tht i recollect the various parts of the story, it feels like a big joke.. sad way to end the most-popular series of all time(exaggeration i kno, but thts how disappointed i am).. n the epilogue was funny to say the least.. hmm at the end of it all what is harry potter up2? oh wait, i dunno,hmm i do kno wht his kids names are,jkr forgot to mention wht bcomes of harry ninteen(y this number, i dunno) years later! :)

OK.. heres my 1^st blog ever. Never wrote 1 b4 for unknown reasons, never wanted to share wht I like, dislike, feel strongly for n against cuz I dint think it’d interest ne1 n I also thought my writings were good enuff.. Now, I don’t care!!.. thts an attitude tht impresses me hella lot.. n it aint easy to not giv a damn! So, wht is a blog for? Wht am I sposed to write abt? Why? And then, I asked myself this afternnon, why not?! Here goes- One thing thts always on my mind is- What is life? Whts the meanin of it? Why is it so weird? So unpredictable? I soon realized that everything abt life is a “?” !! Till I was 17, I was happy-go-lucky n this wasn’t something tht bothered me at all.. Once, BITS-G became my life, this question is on my mind almost all the time, prolly cuz I’m more responsible for evrythin tht I do, ive more freedom, I kno what not-so-easy life is like..

Ive met so many different kindsa people, few nice, few not so nice.. Each of them hav their own story, r unique in their own way n hav different perceptions of life, everything! Theres this grp which studies so hard to achieve wht they want(those 10 points I mean:)) and one exact opposite who “don’t care”! well, am neither here nor there.. This is whr the crucial questions arise- what do I want frm my life? Will the 4 letter word (I meant CGPA for all those hu thought of some unparliamentary word(s):P) make that much of a difference to my life? And finally, do I care???
