i sit down to watch the news everyday n i must say except for the 1st 1o minutes, rest of the news is crap!.. i DONT care abt wht a particular bollywood/hollywood star wears for some arbit film festival in some god-forsaken-place!! is tht wht the whole world wants to hear abt? some controversy or the other all the bloody time.. does the media over-hype(is this a word?) any incident that they can devour? do they jus report the incident as it is? do v get to kno the truth at all? but ya ill contradict my own point here, i'd rather kno things goin on in the world(?) this way than not knowin it at all..
oh how cud i forget the political influence on some of these channels?! take tamil nadu for instance (this is one of the places where politics takes a nasty turn!)-- wont take names here- party A has channel A which glorifies whtever tht party does, mind u, WHATEVER!! similarly the opposition applies a similar strategy.. immature i kno but cant be helped, whos gonna listen?! .. now, whats the truth, wht shud one believe? its ones call to decide which is right n which is not..
osama bin laden, harry potter, madam president(currently), bombay blasts, jihads, some crime committed abt 10 years back for which they're huntin for clues n possible suspects, bollywood/hollywood(how cud i forget?) etc etc is wht a news channel thrives on when nothins happenin in the world.. they dig up stuff tht happened years ago n telecast them as if theres somethin new.. it'll come with the tag abcde exclusive like its brand new discovery!!
its ultimately the viewers choice to decide n believe whts true n whts not.. wht really happened n whts jus the media hype.. whether or not the media is misusin the freedom giv or not..
all this wasnt sposed to go in2 my blog but ive been ponderin abt all these news channels (cuz i watch the news for abt 2.5 hrs everyday:)) n wht they report, the incidents, the crimes, all the politics...
whoevers readin this jus giv it all a thought n lemme kno abt wht u feel strongly for/against, wht u believe is true/not true n the rest..

oh yea ! TN news is divided into positive n negative channels, +ve one by the ruling govt, -ve by the opposition ... guess we have to take the avg :P
btw the news reports abt crimes, politics etc help deliver justice, then its ok nah ! like the eve teasing thing .. after media attention, the judiciary is set into motion n cases registered n all !

yea if they deliver justice i dont hav a prob.. but in tht eve teasin case all of them granted bail..HOW??
dunno how ms.(mrs., watever) patil will def b a let down compared to kalam :(
nice post, but the so called channel broadcasting the same news all day recently won some awards like best english news channel and all that crap... how do they decide that, on the basis of number of times they keep showing us monica bedi(maybe our heroines will finally learn how to face the camera like her, and lie unflinchingly!) or on the basis of wonderful debate topics like "Is India's youth becoming Delinquent?".. i DON'T see how they can generalise the country's youth just because some kuntri (!!) guys did something abominable!!
its both good n bad I must say..but the charm of the 9'o clock news is long gone what with the continuous broadcasting of news in some hundred odd channels. I agree with oink that it helps deliverance of justice in few cases. Overall its both good and bad. Afterall one can tune in anytime to get the headlines (if u are lucky enuf to miss the spree of advertisements.) I agree that the bollywood thingy is overhyped. Every damn dress, boyfriend/girlfriend is showcased so much it acutally makes me wanna wretch. I guess u got to watch the correct segments and then voila! surf !! :D
reminds me.. a kid in my neighbourhood had a doubt.. will the place be called "rashtrapathni bhavan" now??!!

@naren- monica bedi, the news is so full of her.. how she manages to look tht wat being in a jail, i dunno..yea, abt generalisin, sad i kno.. so dumb!!!
